Dr. Axness is an early development specialist and author of Parenting for Peace: Raising the Next Generation of Peacemakers. Her book's premise is this: if we really want to change the world, we need to raise a generation who are 'hardwired'; with the brain-based capacities of a peacemaker -- such as self-regulation, empathy, trust, imagination and of course, intelligence.
Her work synthesizes and distills neuroscience and child development research, weaving it with findings from consciousness, spiritual wisdom traditions and even quantum physics to suggest principles for rethinking early human development – AND to offer practical guidelines for thoughtful people striving to become conscious parents. For 25 years Dr. Axness has been a popular worldwide trainer of adoption, education, and childcare professionals on new findings in the latest science of human thriving, and its implications for practice. Her accomplishments aside, Marcy believes her most important credential (professionally AND personally) is being Mom to Ian and Eve, artists who are grown, flown and flourishing with high EQ and robust curiosity.
